Another Ride for Roswell in the books

Event expected to reach $5 million mark in fundraising

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The Ride for Roswell takes place Saturday and a major fundraising milestone is expected to be reached. Thousands of bicyclists and volunteers are taking part.

Dr. Candace Johnson says it's overwhelming to see everyone coming together, a year after the pandemic forced a virtual version. "To be able to come together like this to raise money, to have hope for the future, is hard to put into words, the emotions of this day," says Johnson.

The pandemic is still putting some limits on the Ride. "Normally, we would have various rides and routes culminating at UB with 8,000 riders. We can't do that this year, so we've divided things up. We have the same number of riders but at four different locations," says Johnson. Riders are gathering at Grand Island, Buffalo Outer Harbor, Niagara County Community College and UB.

This year's ride could reach a total of $5 million in donations since the event began. All funds go to research and programs at Roswell Park.
