ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WBEN/AP) - Rochester's mayor and her estranged husband appeared in court Wednesday, pleading not guilty to charges filed against them last week.
Mayor Lovely Warren and Timothy Granison, were charged with criminal possession of a firearm, endangering the welfare of a child and failure to secure firearms following the unsealing of an indictment last week.
The charges came after a police raid at Warren's home in May. Investigators found a rifle and pistol inside, as well as their 10-year-old daughter home alone. The raid was part of an investigation into Granison who authorities say is part of a drug trafficking ring in Rochester.
The mayor had previously said she had no knowledge of her husband's alleged illegal activity and had been separated from him for some time.
Attorneys for both Warren and Granison entered not guilty pleas Wednesday.
They were both released on their own recognizance.
Warren left Rochester City Court after Wednesday's arraignment without speaking with reporters. The two-term mayor lost her reelection campaign last month when she was defeated in the Democratic primary.
In an unrelated case, Warren is also accused of mishandling campaign finances in her 2017 reelection bid.
