Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) - Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is growing its already expansive footprint with the groundbreaking for its new Scott Bieler Amherst Center on Park Club Lane.
The new build structure will be hard to miss off I-290 near Main Street and will provide convenient access for Roswell patients to access a number of services.
The new facility will enable an expanded array of cancer diagnostic, treatment and subspecialty care services, creating a Williamsville hub for cancer patients in the northern suburbs.
"Over 44 percent of our patients come from communities north of Buffalo, and we have to be where our patients are," said Candace Johnson, PhD President, CEO at Roswell.
Services at the Roswell Park Scott Bieler Amherst Center will include all those currently available at Roswell Park's Amherst Center on College Parkway in Williamsville, as well as some new services currently available only at the downtown Buffalo main campus.
Patients of the neighboring Roswell Park Hematology Oncology Northtowns and Breast Care of WNY sites on Park Club Lane will also be able to take advantage of these services when the building opens, with completion slated for 2023.
Bieler is a major supporter of Roswell Park and his name is on the clinical services building on the Roswell Park downtown campus.
"I can't think of anything in Western New York that affects more families than cancer."
