Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - An old Buffalo hockey rally song is making a comeback for the Sabres playoff run.
"We're Gonna Win That Cup," the Sabres song originally performed by Donna McDaniel in 1975, has been updated and re-recorded by Sabres anthem singer Cami Clune.
Clune told WBEN that the song has been in the works for several months.
"We decided to revisit it again because the team is doing better this season, obviously," Clune said. "For the past couple of months we've been working on re-writing the lyrics."
The song was also re-recorded for Sabres runs in 1984, 1997, and 1999, but there's one issue for fans. It's never led to a Stanley Cup victory.
"Personally, I think that when people say it's bad luck, they're speaking that into the world," Clune said when asked whether or not the song is a jinx. "It's really a good manifestation song. You're saying positive words about the team, talking about winning the Cup."
