North Tonawanda, N.Y. (WBEN) — Police are investigating a serious crash involving pedestrians on Erie Avenue in North Tonawanda. The crash happened around 8 p.m. Friday during a classic car show in the Harley-Davidson parking lot. Witnesses said the driver was leaving the lot when the classic car’s throttle became stuck, causing it to strike a tent filled with people.
The North Tonawanda fire chief told WBEN that eight people, ages 50 to 75, were injured. Seven were taken to hospitals, including Erie County Medical Center and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Three of those injured are in serious condition. All are expected to survive, the fire chief said.
The official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
