Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - As the Covid vaccines become more widely available with a goal of having every adult eligible by May, the attention is slowly shifting toward making sure Americans want to get the vaccine and don't hold out.

For some experts, including Dr. Ken Snyder, Vice President for Physician Quality at Kaleida Health, that means simplifying the often confusing news and talking points around the vaccines.

"With every one of the vaccines that are currently approved, there is zero hospitalization (from Covid), zero serious disease, and zero deaths," Snyder said. "That's with any one (of the vaccines)."

That, for Dr. Snyder, is the key point for getting vaccinated.

While some continue to sound the alarm about the possibility of vaccinated people still being able to spread the disease, Dr. Snyder said the data shows that's unlikely.

"The data is wonderful," Snyder said. "The fact that the Johnson and Johnson data suggests that 75% of asymptomatic people don't spread when they have the vaccine, that's incredible news. That means that the vaccine stops the spread of the virus. We're seeing great data that three out of four people that get the vaccine don't spread it."

That data comes from the Johnson and Johnson vaccine's trials, but it is likely that the other vaccines will give the same protection against spread.

The bottom line, Dr. Snyder said, is that all three vaccines currently available are effective and will provide protection for the person who receives it, and most likely the people around them as well.
