Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A thick, black plume of billowing smoke could be seen for miles, emerging over the City of Buffalo on Saturday afternoon as flames erupted at a scrapyard near the Larkinville neighborhood.
It took Buffalo Fire crews hours to fully extinguish the fire at Metalico on Fillmore Avenue that led to the closure of area streets during the firefighting efforts.
During a Saturday evening briefing, Buffalo Fire officials said damage was estimated to be $2 million. No injuries resulted from the fire.
