Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Heavy black smoke was seen pouring out of the Washington Street entrance to Sahlen Field in Downtown Buffalo at around 9 a.m. ET on Friday morning.
LISTEN LIVE TO WBEN:
A fire broke out in a concession cart along the first base side of the lower level concourse. WBEN's Tim Wenger reported a strong odor of an electrical fire in the air.
Buffalo Firefighters were quick to respond to the scene, and brought the fire under control within minutes.
The damage appeared to be confined to the cart, and is estimated at $600,000. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
The Bisons played a game Thursday night at home, and have another game scheduled for Friday night. The team announced later Friday afternoon the contest would be played as scheduled.
While the vast majority of the ballpark was open, there was no seating allowed on the first base side from sections 118 to the right field corner. Fans already holding tickets for Sections 118 and 120 were asked to bring their tickets to the Sahlen Field Box Office to be exchanged for tickets in other ballpark sections.
The Buffalo Bisons issued a statement thanking Buffalo Police and Firefighters for their service, and that no one was injured in the fire.
A bystander, @PhaseBlowly, caught this video of the smoke.
