BUFFALO, N/Y. (WBEN) Score one for Buffalo's tech community. National software developer Rural Sourcing has chosen Buffalo for a new operations center, and 150 new tech positions are coming as well.
"We were looking to locate in high quality of life, low cost of living locations . When we used our artificial intelligence tool and dialed in to a short list of cities, Buffalo stood out," said Ingrid Curtis, President of Rural Sourcing, Inc.
The Buffalo operations center expands their footprint into the Northeast.
It is the company's 10th location in the country.
"We're doing work for companies all over the country. UPS, Southwest Airlines and other companies that many of us use each and every day," said Curtis.
"We are looking for individuals with all levels of experience. We do not require a college education. You can be self-taught. You can put yourself through a boot camp. "We're looking for mid and senior level architects as well as quality testers, project managers, product managers. We bring teams together of all experience levels to deliver for our clients."
The average salary is in the $80 to $90-thousand dollar range. According to Curtis, a number of positions are well into the six figures for senior management positions.
Curtis is excited about the tech community in Buffalo, anchored by M & T's Tech Hub at Seneca One Tower.. "There's a lot of good momentum. We believe we can come in and be a catalyst."
Regarding the pitch to locate in the 716, Curtis said it came from all levels,
"Invest Buffalo Niagara, Governor Kathy Hochul, the Mayor met us while we were in town. We were very impressed at how coordinated they were at each level."
Is there a hiring timeline? And can people apply for any of the positions now?
"We're hiring for all of them, now" answered Curtis.
