Springville woman admits to January arson

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Springville woman has pleaded guilty to setting an apartment complex on fire back in January.

37-year-old Sara Lilley admitted her crime last week Thursday before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case, and is guilty on one count of Arson in the Second Degree (Class “B” felony).

At approximately 10:30 p.m. ET on Monday, January 23, 2023, Erie County Sheriff’s Office deputies and multiple volunteer fire companies responded to a fire at an apartment building on North Buffalo Street in the Village of Springville. The fire damaged multiple apartment units.

No injuries were reported, but several residents were displaced as a result of the blaze. Lilley, who resided in the apartment building at that time, intentionally set the fire.

Lilley faces up to 25 years in prison when she is sentenced on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 9:30 a.m. ET. She continues to be held without bail.
