Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Stitch Buffalo and Buffalo Water Club 716 are holding a special event this Tuesday at their new HQ to celebrate World Day of Cultural Diversity and Josh Allen's birthday.
"We're going to be celebrating something we have in common, which is our appreciation for cultural diversity and our love of the Buffalo Bills," says Michelle Perkins, Stitch Buffalo's Communications Director.
The non-for-profit textile arts center, which recently found a new home on 284 Plymouth Avenue, is celebrating Josh Allen with some birthday cake and a 17% sale on the iconic Buffalo horn hats made by refugee women for the Buffalo Water Club.
"Proceeds from the sales of the hats going on at the store today and on the Water Buffalo Club's 716 website will be helping to raise money for the Patricia Allen fund, benefiting the Oishei Children's Hospital," Perkins adds.
Stitch Buffalo is a textile arts center that serves the refugee community, offering a place for refugee women to gather and use their textile skills to earn money, to find community, and to practice English to improve their integration with the community.
They also offer community classes to the public in the textile arts. They have a textile arts thrift store where people from the community can purchase low cost supplies for sewing, knitting and other textile arts.
The event goes on until 4 p.m. ET this Tuesday, May 21. All ages are welcome.
"We're an inclusive space and we are happy to meet anybody who loves Buffalo, the Buffalo Bills and loves textiles or art. We're happy to have you come in and poke around and see what we're doing here."
