Lewiston, N.Y. (WBEN) - A student from Lewiston-Porter High School in Niagara County is facing one charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds after a pair of weapons were found in their car.

Lewiston Police K9 - with the assistance of K9 officers from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, North Tonawanda Police and the Erie County Sheriff's Office - conducted a search of high school on Thursday when one of the dogs were alerted on a vehicle in the parking lot.

Upon a search of the vehicle, two shotguns were located by police. Officers from Lewiston Police secured the firearms and the identified student was then questioned. The student was said to be cooperating with the investigation.

Lewiston Police determined there is not, nor was there any threat to the school, and the firearms were left in the vehicle inadvertently.
