After a dismal and unseasonably cool first half of the month of May across Western New York, Mother Nature is about to flip the switch and turn up the heat for the second half of the month.
"From here it goes up," meteorologist Andy Parker tells WBEN. "We're going to see the 70's over the weekend both days, and then it looks like we'll see a pair of 80's on Monday and Tuesday."
The early week heat won't be the norm, Parker assures us, but does add that temps will be much more comfortable than they have been for the second half of the month. "I think we're going to spend the rest of the month here in the 60 to 72 degree range."
Much warmer weather with highs in the mid and upper 70s this weekend and into the 80s early next week may have you planning a day on the water. Keep in mind that water temps remain very chilly, and spending a prolonged amount of time in contact with cold water can be dangerous. pic.twitter.com/eentnXgnAU

Before the heat arrives Monday, a chance of showers is in the Saturday forecast, with a few thunderstorms possible, some of which may be capable of producing gusty winds at times.
"It looks like the window will open for the possibility for those rain showers around 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and then the better chance of getting the rain will be in the evening hours," Parker adds.
Sunday will be a mainly dry day across the WNY region.
