"Unbelievable," said Buffalo School teacher Marc Bruno, to new information that a 17 year old Buffalo student, who tried to bring an unloaded gun into School 197, on East Delavan Avenue this week, had been arrested just over two weeks ago on felony charges.
WBEN has confirmed the same unnamed 17 year old student was charged with five felony drug and weapons charges on March 18 for having two pistols, along with possessing suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl in a bust on South Domedion Street .
"How was he even let out on the street?" asked Bruno. "And in what world do we live in, that the school was not notified?"
Bruno said he does not know if the school was notified or not. Either way, he said the district has questions to answer.
"I think from Buffalo Police to the school district, we need questions answered. It's unbelievable that student was allowed back in the school building."
WBEN reached out to district officials. They would not comment. Buffalo Police told us they do not provide any information regarding the criminal history of minors.
Bruno noted that students who do the right thing everyday have the right to go to school in an environment that is conducive to learning
"This insanity of no consequences, no suspensions, needs to end," he said.
