Niagara Falls, N.Y. (WBEN) - Niagara Falls police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with a sexual assault that happened back in September.
18-year-old Alexander Bryant was taken into custody early Tuesday morning on 24th Street. Police say Bryant is accused of accosting a 31-year-old victim at gun point back on Sept. 19 outside of Pine Plaza. In addition, Bryant was found with an illegal handgun.
Niagara Falls Police Captain John Conti says the case raised a lot of red flags.
"We’re hopeful that by making the arrest, it can give [the victims] some kind of closure and, at least, make them feel a little safer as with the rest of the public," said Conti on Wednesday.
Bryant faces charges of rape and criminal possession of a weapon. He's being held pending a court appearance on Monday.
