Newfane, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 13-year-old child and 50-year-old driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being ejected from their pickup truck in a crash in Newfane Wednesday evening.
The crash happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Day Road and Wheeler Road.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, 50-year-old Jonpaul Oliver of Franklinton, NC was driving high when he blew by a stop sign and crashed into another vehicle that was traveling east on Wheeler.
Oliver's pickup rolled over after the collision, ejecting Oliver and his 13-year-old passenger. Neither had been wearing a seatbelt.
The child and Oliver sustained serious injuries. The driver that was hit also suffered serious injuries that aren't life-threatening.
Oliver has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated by Drugs, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra's Law (child passenger), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Additional charges are pending.
