Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A 17 year old, charged as an adolescent offender, was indicted Friday on charges stemming from a fight at McKinley High School. He's accused of wounding a security guard trying to break up that fight.
Erie County DA John Flynn says the teen is facing an attempted murder charge and a weapon possession charge. The teen is accused of intentionally firing multiple rounds from an illegal gun into the group fighting outside McKinley High on February 9th. He says a school security officer who ran toward the crowd in an attempt to break up the fight was wounded. The guard, who was unarmed, was taken to ECMC where he was treated and released for a gunshot wound to his left leg.
The 14-year-old victim was taken by ambulance to Oishei Children's Hospital where he was hospitalized with serious physical injuries from multiple stab wounds.
The adolescent offender is scheduled to return on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. for a pre-trial conference. He continues to be remanded to the custody of the Erie County Youth Services Center.
His co-defendant, another 17-year-old male from Buffalo, was arraigned on the indictment earlier this week for his alleged involvement in the assault and stabbing of the student. The adolescent offender is also scheduled to return on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. for a pre-trial conference. He continues to be remanded to the custody of the Erie County Youth Services Center.
