Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - 26 more workers at Tesla's Buffalo factory will be laid off in July, according to a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) filing sent to the state.
The workers are part of the company's Supercharger team, all 500 of which companywide will be let go according to an email that CEO Elon Musk sent to employees.
It's the second wave of layoffs at the plant that Tesla has alerted the state of. The company told the state on April 16 that 285 employees at the South Buffalo plant will be let go. That brings the total number to 311 that will lose their jobs this summer.
The company said the reason for both sets of layoffs is "economic."
