Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A big change is coming for Buffalo's newspaper.

The Buffalo News says starting the week of Nov. 3, it will produce a printed paper six days a week, from Tuesday through Sunday. An e-edition will be online daily.

"Some readers who rely on the printed newspaper will not like this change, but we live in a world that has come to embrace digital communication, and this change reflects that reality," said editor Margaret Kenny Giancola.

"We’re disappointed Lee [Enterprises] is giving our loyal print subscribers – who have stuck with us despite all the Lee-erected barriers to good customer service – only one month of notice for such a big change in their routines," said The Buffalo Newspaper Guild in a statement. on Friday. "It seems to be the latest mad dash from Lee to cut costs as fast as it can because its own executives once again botched the company’s financial projections and budgeting."

The guild adds Lee Enterprises has given its markets, "a poorly-functioning, cookie-cutter website and mobile app that only frustrates readers and erodes the consumer experience online."

The Buffalo News began printing in 1880.
