AMHERST, N.Y. (WBEN) - Thousands of turkeys were donated as part of the annual "Turkeys for Tickets" drive held by Entercom, Buffalo Sabres, and Wegmans. All of the donations go to benefit the Buffalo City Mission and FeedMore WNY.
Dozens of cars lined up outside of Wegmans on Alberta Drive in Amherst starting before 6 a.m. It was equally, if not busier at the Wegman's on Orchard Park Road in West Seneca.

"I had a good year," Neal from Buffalo told WBEN after he dropped of 25 turkeys in Amherst. "Last year I donated 20. I've been doing it for eight or nine years."

— Mike Baggerman (@MikeBaggerman) November 20, 2019Those who donated also got to meet Sabres alumni including Craig Muni, Derek Smith, Patrick Kaleta, and Tim Kennedy. The Buffalo Sabres gave a ticket voucher to each person who donated a 20-pound turkey as part of the annual drive.
The drive is crucial to the organizations that benefited from it.
"It's so great to be able to see the community that comes out, steps up to the plate, and want to be able to provide thanksgiving meals for the whole community," Aubrey Calhoun of the Buffalo City Mission said.

"Every little bit helps to make sure these families can get through the holiday season and into the new year."
