Grand Island, N.Y. (WBEN) - Three Buffalo men have been arrested for their alleged involvement in fights that broke out at Beaver Island State Park in the Town of Grand Island on Sunday.
At around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, members of New York State Police, State Parks Police, the Erie County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Border Patrol were dispatched to Beaver Island State Park for numerous reports of several people fighting and possible weapon involvement.
Multiple patrols arrived on scene and encountered a large crowd of men, women, and children in the parking lot. Two vehicles attempted to leave the scene, but were stopped by responding units.
One of the vehicle's occupants, 40-year-old Wilfredo Rodriquez, was found to be in possession of a Glock 26, 9mm handgun. The other vehicle occupants, 29-year-old Jeanpierre Montalve Santos and 27-year-old Michael Acosta-Padilla, were uncooperative and ultimately taken into custody by law enforcement.
All three suspects were turned over to NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of Clarence for arrest and processing.
Rodriguez was charged with Obstruction Administration in the second degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, Assault in the second degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm in a Sensitive Location (NYS Park) and Menacing in the second degree. He was transported to the Erie County Holding Center, and is a convicted felon that does not possess a pistol permit.
Acosta-Padilla was charged with Obstruction Administration in the second degree and Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree. Santos was arrested for Obstruction Administration in the second degree. Both were issued appearance tickets.
A 42-year-old victim at the scene of the fight was transported to Erie County Medical Center for lacerations to his head in the fight.
