Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 16-year-old driver and two 15-year-old passengers were injured following a crash involving a stole Kia Wednesday night at Bailey and Eggert in Amherst. The status of a fourth passenger remains unknown.
Amherst Police responded to the crash at 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
A 44-year-old woman from Amherst was driving North on Bailey Avenue with a green signal. Police say a 2025 Kia Carnival, which has been reported stolen in the City of Tonawanda, was driving Eastbound on Eggert Road when it blew through a red light and into the path of the other vehicle, a 2016 Ford F350.
The Ford came to a stop after the collision, but the Kia rolled on its side and struck a utility pole.
The woman driving the Ford was not injured.
The 16-year-old male from Amherst suffered serious leg injuries, as well as injuries to his face and head. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center.
Two other 15-year-old boys from Buffalo that were in the Kia were also taken to ECMC with minor injuries. A fourth passenger's status has not been revealed.
