TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WBEN) – The roughly 2,800 small businesses in the Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore are eligible for up to $5,000 in grant money from the American Rescue plan.
The American Rescue Plan allocated $40 million for the town and village, of which $2 million will be used for the grant program.
"Some of the restrictions – there's really not many – the only restriction is the place of business will have less than 20 employees to be eligible," Town of Tonawanda Supervisor Joe Emminger said. "Small businesses are the backbone of every community and that's certainly true in the Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore."
Emminger said the town will ask the companies what they intend to spend the money on, which will affect how much a business receives.
Business owners can use the money for payroll, rent, equipment upgrades, or any other business-related expenses.
A small business eligible for the money must have no more than 20 employees.
Applications can be submitted between August 16-30 by clicking here
