Two New York State Troopers stabbed during traffic stop in Allegany County

Bolivar, N.Y. (WBEN) - Two New York State Troopers are recovering after being stabbed by a female suspect during a stolen vehicle traffic stop in the Village of Bolivar in Allegany County.

Troopers located a stolen vehicle and performed a vehicle and traffic stop in the parking lot of Crosby’s Gas Station on Saturday afternoon. During the arrest, the woman violently resisted and stabbed one Trooper just above the eye and another in the head.

In response to the assault, one of the Troopers discharged their division-issued firearm, but did not strike the suspect.

The suspect was taken into custody with minor injuries.

The Trooper who suffered an eye injury is in serious condition, and is being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting and charges are pending.
