Niagara Falls, N.Y. (WBEN) - Niagara Falls Police say the investigation into the deadly November 22 crash at the Rainbow Bridge is continuing, with some progress made by the department's crash management unit.

The data recorder for the vehicle carrying Kurt P. Villani and Monica Villani has been recovered but appears to have been severely damaged. Officers are working towards recovering any information from the recorder.

Bentley Motors has provided documentation about prior recalls as well as general information about the data recorder “black box”, however Bentley Motors is requiring subpoenas to release any personal information, documentation, and records on the vehicle in question. Niagara Falls Police officers are working with the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office to secure the subpoenas.

NFPD has been in contact with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board and has been advised they are meeting this week to discuss the crash and other Bentley issues.
