Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Now in its 61st year, the Variety Kids Telethon crossed the $1 million threshold in raising $1,025,808 during the two day weekend event.

The funds raised directly support Oishei Children's Hospital, and other Children's charities.

The telethon aired Saturday on WGRZ TV and Sunday on WBBZ in a joint effort to raise the critical funds for the kids of Western New York and was hosted by attorney Paul Cambria, President of Variety, along with Darius Pridgen, President of the Buffalo Common Council and Bishop of the True Bethel Baptist Church, in hosting the event.

"Once again, Western New York has come through and made the 61st Annual Variety Kids Telethon a success with over ONE MILLION raised right here locally,: said Cambria.

Donations can still be made online at varietybuffalo.org or by texting "Variety" to 20222. All the monies raised stay local and help support the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital as well as other local charities that benefit children.
