With trade talks on the rocks between the US and Canada, Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington tells WBEN, it's not good.
"This thing has exploded and both sides are playing their role in it," said Warmington.
Canada is threatening to hit back at the US by cutting electricity that flows into the Northeast, including Western New York.
"It's one of the biggest embarrassments in my 40 years as a reporter," he said. "I've never heard of anything so stupid or evil as to suggest that this country is going to cut off electricity to our best friend and our best customer."
Warmington said he is ashamed as a Canadian that they even suggested it. Adding, "it will never happen, if it did, it would break the relationship forever."
How does he see the trade war getting resolved? Who will blink first?
"I don't see President Trump making the move. The reality is that it will have to be Canada after some sort of election. I think this Cold War is on. I don't believe they're going to get back to the table. I hope I'm wrong."
