Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - From the rising cost of food to photographer fees, weddings are more expensive than ever before, leading to a new wave of trends.
Chris Morris with Buffaluv Soundz, an entertainment company that organizes wedding expos, says he's noticing a trend where couples are hiring content creators instead of wedding videographers.
"You can add content creation to your wedding package for a smaller amount than it would cost to add a full professional videographer. You end up with a quick, short video or a couple short videos. You can have them quickly, where normally your videographer or your photographer, they're taking a couple weeks to months to get you your product back." stated Kirst in an interview with WBEN.
Dave Kirst with AAA Western and Central New York says although it's not popular yet, couples are considering wedding insurance, especially since some venues are now requiring it.
"It's a very important coverage for anyone that is going to be getting married. It's going to cover certain things like liability, in case anyone ever gets hurt at the wedding, but also helps protect the people throwing the wedding party. It's going to cover in case something happens and the the location cancels out at the last minute, the photographer cancels. It's also going to cover things like your gifts, if someone, God forbid, steals the gifts, that's something else that'll be covered under the wedding insurance policies," stated Kirst.
Kirst says AAA has been providing wedding insurance for over 7 years. The biggest spike in policies happened during the COVID era, but since then, numbers have gone down slightly. Kirst believes this is because is something that can easily be overlooked.
"it's probably the easiest insurance to apply for, because really it's where the venue is, the approximate amount that you're spending, and that's about it as far as the questions go. There's only a couple questions. It's a guaranteed policy, and it covers so much. It's really worthwhile for anyone that is going to be getting married," explained Kirst.
