Williamsville, N.Y. (WBEN) - Two suburban school districts, along with Section VI athletics have started an investigation into alleged "racially offensive" comments made during a JV football game between the two schools on Oct. 10.

According to social media posts - and later confirmed by the Williamsville Central School District - the comments were made during the game by a player, or players, from the Orchard Park Central School District and directed towards Black Williamsville players.

"We are aware of reports of racially offensive statements made towards Williamsville North junior varsity football players during their game against Orchard Park," Nick Filipowski, Williamsville executive director of communications, said in an email to WBEN.

Filipowski also added in his email that Williamsville, Orchard Park and Section VI are investigating the allegations.

"Sports brings communities together," Filipowski added in his email. "We believe in a welcoming environment, not just in our schools, but at athletic venues throughout Western New York. Racism and hate have no place in our schools or community."

Filipowski said Williamsville is offering support to the district's student athletes and their families.
