Lewiston, N.Y. (WBEN) - High winds damaged portions of a roof and façade along a Center Street building in the Village of Lewiston on Monday.

Village officials confirmed that winds were the main contributing factor in the damage to the Coppins Sevice Center building at 56O Center Street.

No one was injured in the incident that occurred just before noon on Dec. 29, as high winds buffeted Lewiston and most of Niagara County.

In addition to the damage to the Coppins building, power lines were also reported down in portions of Lewiston - and elsewhere in Niagara County.

Officials had a portion of Center Street closed to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic while the damage to the Coppins building was still being investigated.

Center Street is due to reopen later Monday afternoon.
