Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - High winds made for a very busy overnight for Buffalo firefighters. Three separate fires broke out and became wind-driven. A total of seven homes were impacted, and damages are said to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The first fire occurred Monday night on Hertel Avenue near Military in a vacant
building that was under construction.


Three alarms were sounded for a fire at a home on Fougeron Street near Urban in East Buffalo. It spread to multiple structures.

A third fire occurred on Rodney Avenue near Fillmore.

Fire Chief Jerry Nostrant told WKBW-TV he hasn't seen a fire wind-driven like this in quite a long time.

WBEN learned that almost every fire company in the city was called into service during the night.

Buffalo Fire said two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The investigation into the cause of each fire is underway.
