Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - A woman is dead following a house fire in Orchard Park on Friday.
Police say dispatchers received calls saying there were sounds of explosions and when firefighters arrived around 11:15 a.m., a duplex on Ellis Road was fully engulfed in flames.
Nearby homes were evacuated as they tried to determine if anyone was inside.
After the fire was out, they spotted a 65-year-old woman in the home, who died at the scene.
The Red Cross is helping those displaced.
Damage was pegged at $800,000. Cause is under investigation.
