Kraft Heinz shared on Tuesday that it will be recalling more than 83,000 cases of Kraft Singles American cheese because the wrapper could become a choking hazard.
The voluntary recall was shared by the company in a press release, noting that one of its wrapping machines had a temporary issue that made it possible for thin strips of film to remain on the slices even after the wrapper was removed.
Kraft Heinz shared that the machine has since been fixed and that the recall was initiated after the company received several customer complaints.
In six cases reported to the company, consumers suffered gagging or choking, but the company said that no injuries or serious health issues were reported as a result of the issue.
The recall affects the 16-ounce Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product. The packs being recalled have a “Best When Used By” date between Jan. 10, 2024, and Jan. 27, 2024.
The recall is also for the 3-pound multipacks of Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product, which the company says have a “Best When Used By” date between Jan. 9, 2024, and Jan. 13, 2024.
Anyone who has purchased one of the recalled products is advised to return them to where they bought them to get a refund or an exchange, Kraft Heinz shared. Those with questions can contact Kraft Heinz at 1-800-280-8252.
