Former President Donald Trump, who is again a presidential candidate, appeared to hit the golf course recently, according to a Saturday Truth Social post.
As he’s been hanging out at the links, there are reports that his frequent ally – lawyer and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani – has been begging Trump for help, according to CNN. Giuliani has recently been included in an indictment alongside Trump.
This indictment out of Georgia is Trump’s fourth this year. It includes 13 charges, including RICO Act allegations, and 17 other defendants are named in addition to Giuliani and the former president.
However, CNN said that Giuliani, 79, has been traveling to the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida for months “on a mission to make a personal and desperate appeal” for Trump, 77, to pay his legal bills. Apart from the Georgia indictment, which is focused on allegations that Trump and his associates attempted to overturn a democratic election, Giuliani is facing other legal troubles.
These include a Department of Justice indictment, a defamation case in Georgia, a lawsuit from his former associate Noelle Dunphy, a lawsuit from voting machine companies Dominion and Smartmatic, and more, according to Forbes.
“By going in person,” to Mar-a-Lago, “Giuliani and his lawyer Robert Costello believed they could explain face-to-face why Trump needed to assist his former attorney with his ballooning legal bills,” said CNN, citing an unnamed source.
However, the outlet said that Trump doesn’t seem eager to pay for Giuliani’s fees. It said that Trump did make a verbal agreement to help with some of the fees and agreed to attend fundraisers. Another source said that Trump has covered some smaller fees for the attorney.
This week, Audacy reported that Jenna Ellis, another Trump attorney embroiled in the Georgia indictment, was crowdfunding legal fees. Some reports indicated that Trump won’t help her with them due to her support of his fellow GOP primary candidate, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
