NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Police are looking for an axe-wielding man who attacked an individual on a Manhattan street late Monday night.
According to the NYPD, the incident began around 10 p.m. near an MTA bus stop on Broadway, between West 61st and West 60th streets.

The 51-year-old victim was standing on the sidewalk when the unknown attacker approached and threatened to kill him, police said. Before the victim could get away, the man hit him on the left arm with an axe.
The attacker then fled the scene on foot, heading into the 59 Street/Columbus Circle subway station.
EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Mount Sinai-Morningside in stable condition.
Authorities released photos of the suspect prior to the attack, showing he was wearing a mask similar to the ones used in Universal Pictures’ “The Purge.”
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male who was last seen in a blue face mask, a dark-colored coat, blue jeans and black boots.
