A zoo bear named Juniper was caught on camera spoiling a little girl’s birthday party last week when it began eating ducklings that had landed in its enclosure.
Video of the bear eating the little ducks and the children screaming in horror was shared on TikTok and had more than 2 million views before the account that initially posted it went private.
A repost of the video from the Daily Mail has received upwards of 9 million views.
“A #natgeo trainwreck for my daughters’ birthday, thanks JUNIPER,” the mother, Rachelle, captioned the viral feast.
The group Rachelle was with, which included adults and children, was at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington, celebrating her daughter’s birthday.
However, the 2-year-old female coastal brown bear turned the party upside down when it noticed a mother duck with its ducklings swimming in its enclosure, Fox 13 reported.
While the group of onlookers spotted the birds, so did the hungry Juniper, who decided to go for a swim and have a little snack directly in front of the children.
As Juniper snacked on the ducklings one by one, as if they were a pile of chicken tenders, the onlookers can be heard sharing their dismay in the video.
“It isn’t nice,” one little kid exclaimed, to which an adult agreed.
Rachelle shared in her caption, before her account went private, that the scene wasn’t traumatizing for the kids, as they are used to seeing animals being themselves in nature.
“We see wildlife doing their thing all over where we live,” she said.
