Buttigieg says Trump is afraid to debate Kamala

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says that Donald Trump is afraid to debate presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

The comments came after the former president pushed for the second presidential debate to not be hosted by ABC.

ABC is currently set to hold the event on September 10. But after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the debate "should be held on Fox News, rather than very biased ABC."

Speaking to CNN on Tuesday night, Buttigieg pointed out that Trump did not object to ABC hosting the debate when Biden was his opponent -- which could only mean one thing: he's scared.

"What changed from when he said he was ready to do an ABC debate and when he now says he's not? ABC didn't change. Donald Trump didn't change. But there's a new candidate, and clearly, he hesitates to debate her on the exact same terms that he thought would be okay," Buttigieg said.

While Trump hasn't responded to the transportation secretary's comments, he told reporters on Tuesday that he would "absolutely" debate Vice President Kamala Harris -- even more than once.

"I agreed to debate with Joe Biden. But I want to debate her and she'll be no different because they have the same policies," Trump told reporters on a press call organized by the Republican National Committee, according to NBC News.

"I would be willing to do more than one debate actually," he added.
