A life of luxury will have to wait for most of us, as the $1.7 billion Powerball jackpot was won on Wednesday night by a lucky player in California.

Wednesday’s winning numbers were 22, 24, 40, 52, 64 and the Powerball 10.

The ticket taking home the prize was sold at Midway Market & Liquor in Frazier Park, California, according to the California Lottery.

Wednesday’s jackpot was the second largest in the game’s history and the second consecutive billion jackpot won in the state. The last jackpot of $1.08 billion was also won in California in July.

Whoever won the pot now has the choice of taking the money in an estimated lump sum of $756.6 million before taxes or an annuitized option worth the entire amount, but paid out over 29 years.

The odds of winning the Powerball is 1 in 292.2 million, according to the lottery. Now, at least three California players have beaten those odds for a billion prize in the last year, including the prior two jackpots and the game’s largest jackpot ever worth $2.04 billion last November.

A few other people got a surprise with their tickets on Wednesday night, as two tickets sold in Arizona and Pennsylvania won $2 million each, the lottery said. Another 121 tickets won $50,000, and 24 tickets won $100,000 prizes.

Saturday’s Powerball jackpot will now reset, giving players another chance to become rich instantly.
