Authorities have brought some closure to a shocking discovery that made national headlines over the summer.

The owner of the severed foot found floating in a Yellowstone National Park hot spring has been identified.

DNA testing determined that the foot belonged to 70-year-old Il Hun Ro of Los Angeles, officials announced Thursday.

Ro is believed to have died in the hot spring, which runs 53 feet deep and can reach temperatures of 140 degrees.

While it is unknown how Ro died or how he became separated from his foot, investigators say they do not suspect foul play, according to Yellowstone rep Morgan Warthin, though no reason was given for why foul play was ruled out.
