School photos on St Patrick's Day go horribly wrong when green screen is the backdrop

As technology has evolved over the years, inventions have come along to make our lives easier. One of those advancements for school photographers has become a very common sight in the age of camera-phones: the trust green screen. It works like a charm for slipping all manner of backgrounds behind students without toting around cumbersome backdrops.

Well… it works like a charm on 364 days out of the year. But if school photos are scheduled for March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day – wellllll….

That’s what happened in Greenwood, Ind., at Sugar Grove Elementary School. The result? A number of students who wore their festive green attire to school that day got a surprise when they got their pictures back as the green of their clothing blended with the green screen backdrop, resulting in more missing torsos than a Netflix true crime series.

Apparently though, this is only prevalent on the initial proofs. “The proofs are the only pictures that will look that way. The actual pictures, if you order them, will look normal,” read a message sent home by the school to parents.

Parents have apparently taken the gaffe in stride. “Honestly, they’ve brought me so much joy and laughter,” said Amanda Snow of her child’s photos.
