Some people feel lucky just to win a couple bucks on a scratch-off lottery ticket. And then there's a woman in Maryland who recently just cashed in her third -- yes, third -- instant ticket good for $50,000.

The 61-year-old woman from Montgomery County, who decided to stay anonymous, recently bought two $5 Lucky instant tickets. Lottery officials say the woman prefers not to scratch off her tickets and instead scans them to see if she's won. The first ticket she scanned was not a winner, but the second one revealed the game's top prize of $50,000.

"When I saw that message, 'See Lottery,' I just left immediately and scratched off the rest of the ticket in the car," the retired housekeeper said in a statement.

If that wasn't sweet enough, in 2018 the woman won $50,000 playing the $50,000 Bonus Cash game in August and $50,000 playing the Cash Craze Doubler instant ticket in October.

"People play every day and not win," she said. "It's amazing that I won three times."

The woman, who is a mother and grandmother, said the win came just in time, too. She plans to use the prize for home improvements.

To add to the amazing tale of lottery luck, all three winning instant tickets were purchased from the same lottery retailer -- Talbert's Ice & Beverage Service in Bethesda -- which received a $500 bonus for each ticket.
