With COVID-19 restrictions in Europe sparking a wave of protests, Donald Trump Jr. has praised those who are fighting back. The former president's son also said that the American people were "like sheep" for not doing the same.

"Europe is pushing back, and America is sitting there like sheep. 'Oh, this is great. We'll just go along with what these guys who've gotten nothing right in the last two years tell us.' It's absolute insanity," Trump Jr. said with Fox News on Saturday.

With the news of the Omicron COVID-19 variant in South Africa, several European nations have enforced new lockdowns and travel restrictions.

For weeks there have been protests in European countries over restrictions put in place, and Trump Jr. told Fox News that the U.S. media has been suppressing reports of the protests.

"You don't hear about what's going on as it relates to the riots in Europe on a daily basis now against the vaccine mandates because our media wants to block that out," Trump Jr. said.

In his interview with Fox, he said that national media is trying to "make sure" people never hear about the protests. He says it's to stop the idea that "freedom may actually still exist in some parts of the world."

Trump Jr. also went on to criticize President Biden for not being able to stop the spread of the virus as well as not curing cancer.

"He was also going to cure cancer, if I remember correctly, Dan," Trump Jr. told Dan Bongino. "Remember that? Everyone was, 'Oh, that's great, we should definitely elect him.' I haven't seen much movement on that."

Several news outlets have put forth coverage on protests over COVID-19 restrictions, with demonstrations in Rotterdam turning violent as police were forced to fire warning shots, CNN reported.

With winter approaching fast, several European countries have put forth new measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. Restrictions include lockdowns and proof of vaccination to access certain places, BBC reported.

The naming of the Omicron variant also has countries scrambling to stop the potentially more dangerous strain of the virus from spreading.
