Former President Donald Trump has received backlash for his latest remarks that the United States Constitution should be terminated and that he should be made president.

The comments from Trump were made on his own social media platform Truth Social while he continued to claim that the results of the 2020 election were fraudulent.

“Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” Trump wrote.

In the post, he accused “Big Tech” of working with the Democrats during the 2020 Election so that he would lose.

“Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone False & Fraudulent Elections!” Trump wrote.

Trump has been in the spotlight in recent weeks following his announcement of his third presidential campaign following the 2022 midterm elections. Since then, he had also been under fire for hosting well-known antisemite and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes, who had joined Kanye West at Mar-A-Lago.

Several high-profile members of the Republican party, including Sen. Mitt Romney (UT) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (KY), have since condemned Trump for the dinner and his slow response to condemn Fuentes.

But now Trump has faced new backlash for his words, including from Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney (R), who serves as the vice chair of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

“No honest person can now deny that Trump is an enemy of the Constitution,” Cheney tweeted on Sunday.

The post even got a response from new Twitter owner Elon Musk, who responded to a story about Trump’s comments, condemning him for thinking himself above the Constitution.

“The Constitution is greater than any President,” Musk tweeted. “End of story.”

The comments from Trump came following the release of Twitter emails that showed deliberate efforts to cover up a 2020 New York Post story about material found on Hunter Biden’s laptop.

As Trump continues to push stolen election claims, the Republican party continues to distance themselves from him, with an NBC News poll from before the 2022 midterm election finding that 50% support the party over him and 62% of GOP voters identifying as Republicans rather than “Trump Supporters.”
