1 in 292 odds? Hold my beer. Someone proved those odds weren’t impossible Wednesday night when a ticket sold in California won the $1 billion Powerball jackpot.
The Powerball jackpot was won for the first time since April 19.
The winning ticket held the numbers 7, 10, 11, 13, 24, and the red Powerball 24, making one person the winner of the third-largest jackpot in the game’s history.
According to the California Lottery’s website, the ticket was sold at an LA Palmitas Mini Market in downtown Los Angeles.
The jackpot was $1.08 billion when the drawing took place on Wednesday night, and game officials shared that whoever won will be able to choose between annuitized payments over 30 years or a lump sum of $558.1 million before taxes.
The Powerball jackpot has now been reset to $20 million, but another lottery jackpot is still up for grabs.
The Mega Millions jackpot is currently sitting at an estimated $720 million, as the game’s grand prize has also gone winnerless since April.
The next drawing for the Mega Millions will be Friday night, so you still have a chance to make the purchases you’ve been daydreaming about.
