Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The United States launched a successful attack on three nuclear sites in Iran on Saturday.
Addressing the nation after the bombings, President Donald Trump says it is a historic moment for the United Stats, Israel, and the world, adding that Iran must agree to end the war.
Western New Yorkers shared their thoughts with WBEN on if involvement in a conflict with Iran would be the best idea for the country.
"If Iran can do to Israel, they'll turn around and do it to the United States," said one Buffalo resident. "We need to be proactive and protect ourselves."
John from Buffalo points to when Iran took Americans hostage back in 1979, and feels they need to protect the United States from any further involvement.
Some locals in Western New York feel a strike to Iran could lead to even more problems in the Middle East.
"I feel that region of the world is just in constant turmoil, and there's no win," said Nanette D'Massey of Buffalo. "I feel like us getting involved and striking Iran means we're getting into another long-term 'no win' situation."
With the attack on Iran, one Buffalo resident feels the United States needs to protect the people in their country.
"We need to protect our best interest in the long run," they said. "Israel being God's county, God's children, and we're a nation of God... we need to protect them, because we've always stood firm with Israel, and Israel has always been there for us."
