NEW YORK (WBEN) – New York Attorney General Letitia James is looking to get a deposition from Donald Trump next month as her office investigates potential financial fraud inside the Trump Organization.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that James wants the former president to testify at her office on Jan. 7. If he doesn't show up, she could try to force him to in court.

The deposition is part of James' civil probe looking into whether the Trump Organization committed fraud by providing low property values to property tax officers, while giving high values for tax breaks or to impress potential lenders, according to the report.

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office is also investigating the company's financial practices and has convened a new grand jury to consider criminal charges.

Trump, who hasn't been accused of wrongdoing in the case, has slammed James' long-running investigation as a "witch hunt."

Trump's representatives didn't respond to a request for comment from the Post, and a spokesman for James declined comment.
