Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The newest Buffalo Sabre says coach Ralph Krueger was in contact with him almost immediately after the start of the free agent period. Taylor Hall signed off on a one year deal, worth $8 million over the weekend.
"Ralph is a very interesting human being. He's so diversified with his interests and how he speaks to people. He knows how to connect with people. He got the most out of me, and I have a lot of respect for him. He's got a great hockey mind," says Hall.
"I talked to other teams, but I knew in the back of my head that Buffalo was a good option on a one-year contract. Even before free agency, I told my agent that Buffalo was an option for men, and I'm glad we're here," says Hall. He notes what the Pegulas have done with the Bills influenced his decision. "I've seen what they've done with the Bills and a coach I feel can get a lot out of his players," says Hall.
Hall says he's looking forward to teaming up with Jack Eichel. "He's an amazing hockey player. I think he took a great step last year. Now, it's about getting him into the playoffs and onto a stage that he deserves," says Hall. "Have I been told I will play with him exclusively, I have not. But, when Ralph talked to me, he thinks we're a good pair on the ice, but we also have the same personality that will help us gel. I'm excited to get on the ice with him."
Could Hall's time in Buffalo last longer than one season? Maybe. "I'm very interested in a long-term future with the Sabres. It's close to home, close to my parents. It's a place I can see myself playing for a long time. There's some really good pieces in Buffalo, and that's where my mind has been with thinking about this team." adds Hall.
