BUFFALO (WBEN) - Although Thanksgiving is more than 100 days away, registration for one of Buffalo's great traditions, the 126th annual Turkey Trot, began Thursday morning. Runners may register here until race capacity is reached.
Of course, this is an event that sells out every year, so organizers are urging interested runners to sign up as soon as possible.
"We sincerely encourage everyone to take advantage of our early registration," said race organizer Mario Hicks. "The first 1,200 runners will be receiving some Turkey Trot texting gloves, so that's a fun little perk for this year. Registration stays at $37 and will end October 1."
A virtual option is also available to participants who cannot attend the in-person event. Those who register for the virtual race have the option to run, jog, or walk an 8k (4.97 miles) anytime between Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25 through Sunday, November 28.
