Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A much drier week is in store with cooler temperatures in the forecast as Western New York continues to dry out from a Saturday soaker that left some roads underwater and backyards flooded.
Following Sunday's much-improved weather, another dry day is on tap Monday with temperatures and humidity lower.
"The area is catching a break from the recent stretch of warm weather thanks to slightly cooler air from the west-northwest starting to filter into the region," AccuWeather Meteorologist Adam Sadvary explained.
"Temperatures should overall hold steady around the seasonal normal early this week and for the majority of the week," Sadvary said.
After a week of humid and stick conditions, those levels are expected to back-off through the week, but not completely disappear. "Dew points will lower somewhat, but moderate humidity is still expected to remain in place," Sadvary said.
The Saturday soaker dropped near-record rainfall across much of the region with at least two inches of rainfall in most locations and as much as 3 to 5 inches in several spots.
While the week ahead is much drier than last, there is still the chance of some showers midweek according to forecasters. "Another system will pass through the Northeast [late Tuesday through Wednesday] and bring a quick round of shower and thunderstorm activity in the process," Sadvary explained.
While the July rainfall totals for the Buffalo-Niagara region are above normal, year-to-date, we remain slightly behind in rainfall, forecasters report.
