Winter Weather Advisory for southern tier through Friday

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Milder temperatures and rainfall Thursday will quickly transition to much colder temperatures and then lake effect snow south of the Buffalo metro across the higher terrain of the southern tier.

The Buffalo office of the National Weather Service has posted a Winter Weather Advisory for the southern tier as 3 to 5 inches of snow could accumulate in the hills well south of Buffalo.


WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 1 PM EST FRIDAY
* WHAT...Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches in the most persistent lake snows. The majority of the snow will occur tonight inland across the Boston Hills and the higher terrain of Wyoming county.
* WHERE...Wyoming and Southern Erie counties.
* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on snow covered and slippery road conditions and poor visibility at times. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute Friday.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.
